  Liposuction, fat suctioning
Liposuction = a shaping procedure in which fat is suctioned from certain parts of the body. It is a favoured procedure in the case of unattractive fat deposits in certain parts of the body, e.g. so-called saddlebags, hips, tummy or inner thighs, inner knee, calves, neck etc.
Fat deposits ("lipodystrophy") is characterised by collections of fatty tissue which, despite general weight loss, do not reduce in size. It is exactly this type of lipodystrophy (in spite of otherwise normal weight and proportions) that is the target of fat shaping suction procedures.

However, not only normal proportions and a suitable size are required for appropriate and effective liposuction. It is far more important that the connective tissue is in a good condition, namely firm and able to shrink back to the required shape.
In order to achieve a result with as few side effects as possible, the specialist who performs the procedure must use the correct technique and suction an appropriate quantity of fat, and it is also important that the skin shrinks evenly and smoothly in order to achieve the desired quality in the end.
The worse the condition of the connective tissue and its ability to shrink (age plays an important part here) the more care should be taken when considering the indications and selecting patients for this procedure.
Once the above-mentioned conditions have been met, the operation may proceed. Hospitalisation 1 – 2 days: The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic.

Complications are extremely rare and other than the feeling of having “stiff muscles”, there is virtually no pain involved.
